Donald R. Morrell is the founding attorney of Final Approach Law — an estate planning and probate firm in Mount Dora, FL. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2015 after earning his JD from Barry University School of Law, and is a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant with nearly 30 years of service.

Donald Morrell spent almost three decades in uniform learning one truth that never left him: the people beside you are worth protecting with care and intention. He carries that same conviction into every estate plan he builds for families across Lake County and The Villages, Florida.

Don served in the U.S. Navy before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 2011, carrying his love of aviation through both services. As a C-130 and LC-130 Flight Engineer, he logged thousands of hours across four continents — hurricane support including Katrina, scientific missions over Antarctica and Greenland, and combat missions in Afghanistan. Preparation, he learned, is what brings people home.

After retiring, Don pursued a calling he had been building toward without fully knowing it. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting — a foundation that shapes how he thinks about the financial realities behind every plan. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law in Orlando, graduating at 53, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2015.

The answer, for Don, is personal.

When his in-laws needed to get their affairs in order, Don helped them build their plan. When the time came, that plan worked exactly as designed. His wife and her siblings navigated an incredibly hard season without the added weight of confusion, conflict, or court. The estate was organized. The wishes were clear. Probate was avoided entirely.

He founded Final Approach Law to offer that same clarity to every family he serves. Not documents — a real plan, built for real people, with the guidance to understand it.

Outside the office, Don plays with a bagpipe band, performing at more than 50 events each year — from the White House and the U.S. Capitol to quiet graveside services for veterans and neighbors. He and his wife have been married for 47 years. They have three children and five grandchildren.
